Because we are insane, we had the contractors redo the kitchen and master bath at the same time. So that made the downstairs pretty much unlivable. With the sheer amount of dust, hazards, clutter, and chaos, we just stayed upstairs. Except for the rare occasion when Keith would go downstairs to fix a sandwich with his respirator (seriously, the dust was that bad). For about two months the girls and I shared a full size bed and Keith was on Micah's incredibly uncomfortable twin. We made it to the other side though and everything is fantastic.
It was definitely crazy around here during that time, but I think you will see why we decided to just do it all up front. Here are some before shots of the master bath...
Walking in from our room. The walls color was probably named "Silly Putty"...it is exactly that fleshy pink-ish/tan-ish color. These tiles where cracked, loose, and uneven.
This is the vanity area. It is a great size with his/her closets over to the right.
This is going in to the "business" zone of the bathroom. That door to the right is a little linen closet, the door to the left is well, everything else. Please note how dark and foreboding it is in this picture. The very reason we wanted some changes made.
So you walk in and there is the toilet and tub. Look at that tiny tub. This is a funny story and Keith will probably make me edit it out when he reads it, so hopefully you will get to read it before then. When we first moved in they were finishing up the upstairs bathroom (we couldn't use it). The shower in the master (pic below) had a leaking shower pan and, quite frankly, we were a little scared of it anyway. So we all took baths for a couple of weeks...in that tiny tub. Remember Keith is 6'2" and just did not fit. Not that I know because there are some things that need to be kept private, but the splashing around alone indicated that it was not a relaxing soak.Back on point. It is pretty tight here and oh so dreary. You probably can't tell here, but the ceiling was quite low because of AC ductwork and there was no window or source of natural light in this area.
If you turn around, there is the shower. 70s frosted glass/brass door, no frills shower.
Back on our way out, one more shot of that vanity. You are jealous of those sink fixtures, aren't you?
