TILE

Because we are not very smart, we thought we could do tile work ourselves. It is hard work, I am here to tell you. We busted out most of the floor in the upstairs bath and laundry. But we ran into an issue when it came to disposing of the discarded tile. You can't just sit it out in your garbage. Or out for bulky trash pick-up. Here, you have to take it to the landfill...which is about 45 minutes outside of town. That is not necessarily the problem, it is loading it up. You can't put it in trashbags because it slices right through. You can only put so much in a box before it breaks. 5-gallon paint buckets are the best, but even though we have been through lots of those, we ran out quickly. Oh, and did I mention this was upstairs...so you have to get it downstairs as well. Also, we caught a glimpse of what was under the tile in the shower. It was a thick layer of cement with nasty wire mesh.

This is promptly when the contractors take over for a while.
